This was a large semi-detached Victorian house in Bowden – like most victorian properties it had several storeys including a cellar below the main living floor.

My brief was to extend what was a small sitting area down some steps from the main kitchen -in that area was a small toilet. The main idea was to create additional space out by 2.5 metres to line up with the adjoining property.

The problem was that there was nothing to build out over –below at cellar level was a building with a sloping slate roof. The only option was to build a steel floor; using part of the wall and run the steel beams to another wall to the right side -putting in steel support pillars. Once that was completed then we would have the space to build up the extension.

This was where 3d visuals helped tremendously, they enabled the client to see exactly what i had in mind for the new extension.
